In 2004 and 2005 Marina Chiche was nominated in France for the “Victoires de la Musique Classique” awards in the ‘French Instrumental Revelation’ category. These nominations put her in the public eye. Since then she has become increasingly well-known through several radio and television performances.Yet in 2003 her career had already taken a decisive leap forward when, at the age of 21, she was voted Classical Revelation by Adami. Since then she has been sponsored by the Déclic-Culturesfrance programme. In addition to this she recorded Brahms’ Violin and Piano Sonatas with Vahan Mardirossian for Intrada. Released in 2003 this, her first, recording was warmly received by the critics (“Recommended” by Répertoire-Classica, “Coup de cœur” (Favourite Recordings) by Piano Magazine and RTL). She also took part in the recording of Eric Tanguy’s chamber music for Transart Live. Her latest recording presents a solo recital programme about Bach.

She performs with conductors such as John Nelson, Frédéric Lodéon, Jacques Mercier, Yuri Bashmet and Arie van Beek. Marina has a passion for chamber music and has had the privilege of working with several generations of artists: Joseph Silverstein, Augustin Dumay, Renaud Capuçon, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Jonathan Gilad, Jérôme Ducros, and Dana Ciocarlie.

Marina’s career is rooted in her early childhood. Born in Marseille in 1981, she began learning the violin at the age of three. She then studied at the Conservatoire National de Région in Marseille with Jean Ter Merguerian who had a profound influence on her violinistic creativity. At the age of 16 Marina was accepted at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris where she won four first prizes: violin, chamber music, analysis and aesthetics.
She also studied with Joseph Silverstein, Ida Haendel, György Kurtág and Ferenc Rados at major academies such as Verbier and Sienna. Following a period in Vienna in Boris Kushnir’s class and just as she was starting her career as a soloist, Marina’s encounter with Ana Chumachenco proved decisive. She decided to study with her at the Hochschule in Munich, where she obtained a Meisterklassediplom.
Always receptive to and in search of new and diversified experiences and projects Marina Chiche’s eclectic passions have led her to combine her commitment as a performer with teaching and her research in aesthetics. She has created her own solo recital project “violin+” where she performs and explains masterpieces from the violin solo repertoire from Bach to nowadays in different languages. She has toured with it intensively during Spring 2011 in Germany and Marocco. She is now making it evolve into new directions.
Her next concerts will bring her to UK (Open Chamber Music/Prussia Cove; Tresanton), Germany (Bonn Schumann Festival), Israël (Tel Aviv Museum) as well as Japan.
Marina plays a Giuseppe Gagliano from 1762.
